The surgery done on Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Alonto Adiong Jr. to take out the bullet that hit him during an ambush in the province on Friday was successful, his brother Lanao del Sur, 1st District Zia Alonto Adiong said on Saturday.
Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Alonto Adiong Jr. survived a slay attempt on February 17, 2023 in Maguing town, Lanao del Sur. Four of his companions died in the incident while a staff of the governor was wounded.
"He underwent surgery para alisin 'yung bala... Medyo malalim. Buti hindi fatal, walang natamaan na organs. Successful naman ang surgery," he added.Unidentified gunmenof Gov. Adiong on Friday afternoon as it passed Kalilangan, Bukidnon, wounding the local chief executive and a member of his staff. Three police officers — part of the governor's security detail —and one driver were killed.According to Rep. Adiong, the governor's vehicle was not bulletproof.
Rep. Adiong said Friday's ambush was the first attempt on the life of a sitting governor in Lanao del Sur.
