Labuan Corporation Chief Executive Officer Rithuan Ismail said the upgrading project is part of LC’s beautification efforts to “bring life” to the island. The project began on Feb 6 and is scheduled for completion at the end of the year. “We will do what we can to beautify our island. We need close cooperation from the people at all levels to make this project a success.
The project is based on the maritime concept with the construction of coral trees, surrounded by seaweed and a well-organised landscape. “The new design symbolises the position of Labuan, which is surrounded by an ocean. Elements of abstract corals are the main components of the project. “The whole area of the Merdeka Roundabout will be lit up to turn it into a lively spot in the heart of Labuan town,” he said.
