Labor’s next wave of workplace changes for labour hire and the gig economy will cost up to $9 billion over 10 years, according to government estimates.
Minimum standards in the gig economy would cost an estimated $4 billion in increased wages over 10 years. That equated to $403.8 million a year and was based on the assumption food delivery, ride-share and care economy workers were paid similar to casual award rates.
