KUALA LUMPUR, March 23 — Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd today said the service disruption to both its Komuter service around the Klang Valley and its intercity Electric Train Service yesterday was due to a massive storm that knocked out its power supply.
KTMB said several train stations have been affected due to fallen trees, notably those between Slim River in Perak and Sungai Buloh in Selangor.“We would like to apologise to affected riders following the service disruption of Klang Valley Komuter and ETS that occurred since 1750 PM yesterday. “The disruptions caused the stations’ counters and master panel to be unable to work, and arrangements were made to get the affected at the end of the platform,” it said in a statement on its Facebook page at about 3am.It said there were eight affected ETS trains, which were delayed by an average of more than 120 minutes.KTMB said its Batu Caves–Pulau Sebang–Batu Caves Komuter route will end at the Sentul station, with a delay of 120 minutes.
KTMB also said it will refund the full fare to ETS passengers who were unable to continue their journey. In an update at 5am, KTMB said the Komuter service for its Batu Caves–Sentul route has returned to normal.
