KOTA KINABALU: A group of Korean tourists had a scare when the boat they were in got stuck in tree roots along the Bolong River in Tuaran, not far from the state capital on Thursday (July 6).

The 14 tourists comprising nine women, four men, a boy and their two guides and skipper were in the boat when the incident happened late evening.

According to Sabah Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Hamsa Isnurdini, the vessel got stuck following strong river currents at that time. He said rescuers managed to get the tourists out of the vessel using smaller boats belonging to villagers.
