Only two survivors have been reported, according to the National Fire Agency.The tragedy plunged the nation into mourning, silencing South Korea’s vibrant entertainment and broadcasting industries. K-pop groups IVE and Seventeen’s subunit BSS postponed album releases, while major television networks canceled variety show broadcasts in a gesture of respect for the victims. Celebrities joined the nation in expressing their grief, flooding social media with photos of white flowers and messages of condolence. “We express our deepest condolences to the victims and their families who were affected by this accident,” wrote Seventeen’s leader S.Coups. “We extend our deepest condolences to the victims who lost their lives in the recent aviation accident and to their loved ones,” BigHit Music posted on BTS’ X account. Korean artists and K-pop groups like NewJeans, Ahn Bo-hyun, STAYC, and Kang Daniel also expressed their condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragedy.
