WASHINGTON: Sebahagian kompleks presiden di Rumah Putih ditutup sementara pada lewat Ahad lalu susulan penemuan serbuk putih dikenali pasti sebagai kokain, lapor Washington Post.
Perkhidmatan Risikan mengesahkan kepada Reuters satu “barang tidak diketahui” ditemui menyebabkan sebahagian Rumah Putih ditutup, tetapi merujuk soalan lain kepada Jabatan Bomba yang enggan mengulas. “Pada petang Ahad, kompleks Rumah Putih ditutup sebagai langkah berjaga-jaga ketika pegawai Bahagian Beruniform Perkhidmatan Risikan menyiasat satu barang tidak diketahui yang ditemui dalam kawasan kerja,” kata jurucakap Perkhidmatan Risikan dalam kenyataan melalui e-mel.
Barang itu ditemui di West Wing, kata jurucakap itu. West Wing ialah kawasan bersambung dengan kediaman eksekutif di mana presiden tinggal dan termasuk Oval Office, bilik Kabinet dan kawasan media, selain pejabat dan ruang kerja untuk penasihat serta kakitangan.“Jabatan Bomba DC dipanggil untuk menilai dan segera menentukan barang itu tidak berbahaya. Siasatan dijalankan ke atas punca dan cara barang itu dibawa masuk ke Rumah Putih,” kata jurucakap Perkhidmatan Risikan.
