Friday. Its Minister, Fahmi Fadzil said that the vulnerability was identified by Cyber Security Malaysia during the development process of the app and users shouldn’t worry about their personal data when using MyJPJ.
According to Bernama, the KKD Minister asserted that the vulnerability was not a major one. The defect was identified by CSM and the Transport Ministry was notified, with Fahmi personally informing Transport Minister Anthony Loke of the matter. The issue has since been resolved prior to the app’s launch.
Previously, we reported that Malaysian drivers no longer need to display the road tax sticker on their vehicles anymore with the implementation of the Digital Motor Vehicle License and Digital Private Malaysian Driving License starting Friday. Instead, road users can just use the MyJPJ app to show their road tax in digital form. Furthermore, traffic enforcement can still verify vehicle and identification numbers even without users having the app downloaded.
The digitalisation initiative will be implemented in stages with the first phase covering individual plate vehicles and motorcycles owned by Malaysians. Fahmi also stressed that CSM will continue to monitor the cyber infrastructure used by the government, including applications and websites, to reduce the risk of being hacked.
