KOTA KINABALU: The state government is probing the unusual water disruption at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA).
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Shahelmy Yahya said they want to know why the taps had totally dried out during a scheduled maintenance for a water reservoir tank.“But we want to know the reason why the supply was cut off at the airport.
“Why has it happened with such serious consequences? We are investigating the matter because the cleaning of the water tank was scheduled maintenance work,” he said when contacted yesterday. Shahelmy said the disruption occurred after the private water producer, Jetama, conducted scheduled cleaning work at the R4C water tank, which supplies water to the airport.
On Friday, Malaysia Airports Holdings advised all airlines on its Facebook page to fill up their aircraft with water supplies at the point of origin before departing for BKI due to a water supply disruption. It also revealed that all food and beverage outlets had been asked to provide disposable ware and utensils.
