PETALING JAYA: Social media was abuzz after former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin posted a picture of himself and Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Instagram.
The picture shows them smiling side by side, and Khairy did not disclose the outcome of his meeting with Muhyiddin in his Instagram post which was uploaded without a caption.
Talk has swirled on whether the former Umno Youth chief is going to join Opposition party Bersatu after its president Muhyiddin offered him a seat on its supreme council. Muhyiddin had said he hoped that Khairy would join the Perikatan Nasional coalition and added that the latter is “smart enough to make a decision”.
This comes after Khairy joined a meeting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim chaired with top economic experts in Malaysia last Friday to discuss the direction of the country’s economy.Bersatu information chief Datuk Razali Idris confirmed with reporters that the meeting between Muhyiddin and Khairy was held at Muhyiddin's residence, Berita Harian reported.
While confirming that Khairy will not establish a new party, Razali refused to reveal the outcome and said they are still awaiting Khairy’s response.
