Chris Hipkins will attend an Australian citizenship ceremony with Anthony Albanese in Brisbane on Sunday.The federal government estimates about 670,000 New Zealand citizens live in Australia – close to 15 per cent of New Zealand’s population. There are about 70,000 Australians living in New Zealand. “Australia and New Zealand have a deep friendship, which has been forged through our history, shared values and common outlook,” Mr Albanese said.

The moves come ahead of Anzac Day commemorations and celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Trans-Tasman Travel Arrangement, which allows citizens of the two countries to enter each other’s country to visit, live and work indefinitely.
