Ignoring orders, Adamson fired tear gas and ran in, followed by three other officers. They shot both Munros, who survived, but Sweet bled to death.Adamson was never the same, his family said. Suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder from that night, he died by suicide in 2005.
Munro waived an in-person parole hearing this time, and a Parole Board of Canada panel based its decision on a review of his files. In 2012, he admitted using cocaine and paying for sex “in a weak moment” while on an approved unescorted absence, but later said that was a lie to protect another inmate. He seemed to later recant that story as well.Article content
