Covid-19 telah diterima sebagai salah satu penyakit berjangkit yang ‘endemik’ iaitu penyakit yang ada di merata tempat di dalam komuniti dan sukar dihapuskan secara total. Oleh itu, dijangka kes muncul dari semasa ke semasa, dan ‘berlegar’ dalam komuniti. Ia juga dianggap hanya menyebabkan penyakit ‘ringan’, tidak terlalu virulent dan berupaya pulih sendiri walaupun tanpa rawatan khas.

Maka vaksin sedia ada tidak melindungi dengan baik. Kajian bertajuk Antibody Duration After Infection From SARS-CoV-2 in the Texas Coronavirus Antibody Response Survey menunjukkan perlindungan hanya bertahan selama 500 hari. Ini memandangkan virus Covid-19 akan berubah iaitu akibat mutasi varian-variannya.

Golongan rentan dan sesiapa yang berasa berisiko, maka eloklah memakai penutup muka, kekalkan higen diri seperti kerap membasuh tangan dan elakkan bersesak-sesak. Rakyat harus compliant kepada ubat-ubatan sedia ada jika turut menghidap penyakit lain seperti darah tinggi, kencing manis dan sakit jantung untuk mengurangkan komplikasi penyakit sedia ada. Kita juga perlu menjaga berat badan, kerana obesiti turut meningkatkan risiko utk keparahan penyakit.

Liputan penerimaan dos penggalak pertama, pula hanya 50.1% dan ini dianggap masih kurang memuaskan. Ini kerana antibodi, selepas divaksin, keberkesanan perlindungan akan menurun selepas antara lima ke enam bulan, maka dos penggalak adalah digalakkan pengambilannya.
