Single-lane traffic will be returning to the Kennedy Hill construction site on Highway 4 on Jan. 2 for all hours of the day.
Crews were paving the Kennedy Hill section in November 2022.Over the holidays, the site opened to bi-directional traffic as crews shut down for the holiday.
On Jan. 2, work will start back up and return to single-lane alternating traffic at all times until Jan. 12. Starting on Jan. 13, single-lane alternating traffic will be in place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and open to two-way traffic at the end of each workday. The project is expected to be complete in spring 2023, ending over three years of construction on the stretch of highway.Highway construction work near Kennedy Hill starts, road closures in effect
The original schedule was for construction to be complete in the summer of 2020, but the project was delayed several times. The province says the factors that led to delays included the COVID-19 pandemic, blasting damage in January 2020 needing repairs, increased environmental protections, and the need for smaller blasts due to the fractured bedrock.
