When the Rolling Stones were preparing for their 1975 summer Tour of the Americas, Warhol let them rehearse and stay at his vacation estate in Montauk, New York. His moodiness comes through in the photos and subsequent screenprints, with a hint of annoyance in one that is on the walls of Unzipped.One room over is authentic stage-worn outfits and costumes.
As an aside, most people say the fan was attacked during Sympathy for the Devil. That isn’t true. Earlier in the night, a fight had broken out during the song, which the band stopped, then started again from the top. The concertgoer was attacked during Under My Thumb.Original instruments, notebooks of songs starting to be written, and a recording studio rebuilt from originals. What’s been recreated is the studio where Sympathy for the Devil was recorded. The drums are a giveaway.
