Half of the six\u002Dteam playoff field at the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier could well wind up hailing from Alberta.

“J.D. is honestly a big reason why we’ve been successful this year,” Sturmay continued. “The guy’s an incredible curler himself but knows the game inside-out. He’s had a ton of success at the coaching level in the sport. So it’s great to not only have a bit of a veteran voice on the team but somebody who’s seen the highest levels of the sport and sees kind of what the patterns are out there when good teams are trying to break through and they’re experiencing success for the first time.
