KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says he made sure he was able to attend the closing of Sabah's Kaamatan Festival here.
The Prime Minister said he told Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor that this would show that the government cared about all cultures and traditions in the country.He said it would also show the people that this is a new phase for Malaysia.
"This is a people's event. We have ambitions for Sabah and Malaysia ... to be strong in education and its economy but remain faithful to their cultural and traditional roots. Also present were KDCA president and Huguan Siou Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, Deputy Chief Minister and KDCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan and other state ministers, among others.
