Ka’Deem Carey won’t be playing. Not on Thursday against the Ottawa Redblacks and likely not for the next six games, at least.
Carey is arguably the best running back in the CFL, so there’s no sugarcoating what his absence will mean for the Stampeders.
Fortunately, though, there may not be a team that is better equipped to handle a running back injury than the Stampeders.With Carey out, Dedrick Mills will step in after sitting out Week 1 against the Lions. Mills had a couple huge games last year, although the fact that the CFL inexplicably and inexcusably has wiped all its stats from its website while Genius Sports builds something new — apparently — means it’s hard for us to tell you much about them.
There is also some uncertainty at receiver, as Canadian Luther Hakunavanhu suffered a knee injury in Tuesday’s practice. Dickenson believed the injury was mostly just soreness from a knee-on-knee collision and there was no ligament damage, so he was listed as a game-time decision on the depth chart the Stampeders released on Wednesday morning.
