, Conservative MP Garnett Genuis rose on a point of privilege to complain about a tweet fired off the previous day by freelance journalist Dale Smith.
According to Genuis, the tweet — in which Smith described the MP’s performance in question period as “lame” and added that “when horses are this lame, you shoot them” — constituted a “threat” that, due to Smith’s access to the precinct, “affects ability to perform functions as a member of Parliament.” Genuis called on the Speaker to suspend the journalist’s press gallery accreditation pending further review.
