SAN FRANCISCO, Aug 27 — If there’s a melody rattling around in your head for which you just can’t quite put your finger on the title, you may be interested in testing out this new YouTube feature.
This feature is still in a test phase on YouTube. The video streaming platform has developed a new option for users on the Android version of the app, enabling them to find the title of a song simply by humming a melody, singing it, or playing an excerpt of a recorded piece of music, as with the Shazam app.
To use this feature, users will simply have to click on voice search in YouTube and record themselves for at least three seconds. The technology will then be able to recognize the music and suggest official clips, as well as other user-created video content as well as Shorts, those short YouTube videos reminiscent of the TikTok format. “This experience is rolling out to a small percentage of people across the globe who watch YouTube on Android devices,” reads the official blog.
While this option could make daily life easier for YouTube users, Google already offers this innovation via its voice control. By clicking on the microphone, the “Search a song” option appears, allowing you to hum or sing along to a piece of music in order to find the exact title. And the results are astonishing. It remains to be seen whether the option developed by YouTube will live up to that of its parent company.
