NSTnation: Private vehicle owners only pay RM7 for the toll now, compared to RM8.50 previously.
The reduction is part of a national standardisation of toll charges for Class 1 private vehicles, in line with the announcement made by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, during the tabling of Budget 2020 on Oct 11.Garison Goh, in his 30s, who uses the bridge daily to travel to work at a factory here from his home in Penang island, said he is happy with the toll reduction.“Before this, I spent more than RM200 monthly just for the bridge toll.
“With the RM1.50 reduction, this will contribute to some savings,” he said when met at the launch of the new toll charges by Jambatan Kedua Sdn Bhd board of director member Datuk Seri Farizan Darus here, at the stroke of midnight. For Mohd Zulfahmi Arbain, in his mid-20s, the toll reduction means bigger savings for his daily commute from Parit Buntar, Perak to his workplace on the island.
