Former treasurer Josh Frydenberg has been appointed Chair of United States bank Goldman Sachs' Australian business.

The appointment, confirmed on Thursday, came after he joined the bank as a senior regional adviser for Asia Pacific following the Liberal Party's loss at the last federal election in May 2022.

The former treasurer will"focus on further deepening and strengthening client coverage across the A/NZ region," the memo says, as he works with senior leaders in the region to drum up business. Goldman Sachs is one of America's largest financial institutions, reporting US$10.90 billion in net revenue last financial year. Before embarking on his career with Goldman Sachs, Mr Frydenberg served as federal treasurer and deputy leader of the Liberal Party from 2018 to 2022.
