Joint police task force urges public to report 'arrogant' cops in COVID19 checkpoints

MANILA - The public is encouraged to report “arrogant” police officers in quarantine checkpoints, the country’s COVID-19 joint task force said, promising a crackdown on such cops.

Joint Task Force COVID Shield Commander Guillermo Eleazar said erring cops will be dealt with through administrative and criminal charges should complainants choose to file cases. Definitely hindi 'yan tino-tolerate,” Eleazar said in a press briefing aired on state television. Eleazar maintained that they are also monitoring social media for any complaints regarding checkpoints they could act upon, and reiterated that abuses made among their ranks would not be tolerated.

Since the pandemic started, police checkpoints have been set up around borders of provinces and cities to limit movement and avoid coronavirus disease 2019 contamination.
