Braden Yap Hong Sheng, the 18-year-old student who set a dog on fire last month, has been sentenced to seven strokes of light caning after he was convicted of animal cruelty.
Braden pleaded guilty to causing excruciating pain to a brown female dog by beating and setting the dog on fire.Wan Zaidi said he took into consideration that Yap was a young first-time offender who showed remorse and pleaded guilty at an early stage.The court sees a prison sentence as not appropriate.
What happened? On 27 March around 2am, Yap was caught on camera beating and lighting up a brown dog on fire in front of a veterinarian clinic at Taman Impian Emas, Johor.
