ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services (Maqis) Department has detained 16 pallets of animal feed weighing 16,000kg from Singapore at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) here.

In a statement by Johor Maqis, its enforcement personnel carried out an inspection on a lorry in KSAB near the Second Link at around 3.30pm on Tuesday .

“Further checks found that the animal food was brought in without presenting a valid Maqis import permit and was detained for further action,” it said on Wednesday . The act of importing any type of agricultural produce without a Maqis import permit is an offence under Section 11 of the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Act 2011 , which can be punished under Section 11 of the same Act.
