KOTA TINGGI: The Johor government will collect data on all campsites in the state to ensure that they are operating in line with regulations.
Housing and local government committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor said to date, only one campsite is registered under local councils – in Pantai Air Papan, Mersing."There are two governing bodies for camping activities in Johor, namely the local councils and the Forestry Department.
"We are taking precautionary steps in line with Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming's order to clear out any campsites in the state.Batang Kali landslide: Operator only had licence for organic farm, not to host camping activities, says Nga "So far, places like Gunung Pulai, Gunung Ledang and Kota Tinggi Waterfall have been closed off to members of the public even earlier owing to the ongoing monsoon.
"As for public beaches, they would usually be closed between December and January when the monsoon season is at its peak," he explained.
