John Torode and Gregg Wallace have been a TV staple for more than a decade fronting BBC's MasterChef together
John Torode has candidly confessed that despite their long-standing partnership on the hit BBC show MasterChef since 2005, he and co-host Gregg Wallace have "never been friends". Despite being one of television's most recognisable duos, they maintain a professional distance from each other during filming in various international locations.
"He'd build it up in his mind for three days, and probably make himself quite sick, then he'd have an argument with his wife and not turn up." The BBC is now dealing with claims from 13 individuals, including former Newsnight presenter Kirsty Wark, 69, who took part in the 2011 series of Celebrity MasterChef. Wark detailed troubling incidents, alleging that Wallace recounted explicit anecdotes and jokes while on set, which left those present clearly uneasy.
