The rise of what she called “muscular dictatorships” means we need to build a new paradigm, she said.In a 40-minute speech, she made no mention of the need to bolster Canada’s military, despite warnings by Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Wayne Eyre last week that the Canadian Forces are in no shape to carry out the tasks that will be required in the coming years.
She said liberal democracies should design their government procurement programs with “friend-shoring” in mind, as the U.S. has by making tax credits available to electric vehicles made with components from countries with which America has trade agreements.
