A woman who was originally offered a $500,000 a year US trade role which was later given to John Barilaro, is suing the former NSW deputy premier and ex-trade minister Stuart Ayres for damages.
Jennifer West has accused the pair of misfeasance in office and breach of contract after her US job offer was revoked and she was made redundant, theIn a statement of claim submitted to the NSW Supreme Court on Monday, Ms West sought aggravated damages arguing the circumstances leading to the withdrawal of the appointment and the termination of her employment were insulting and humiliating.

Picture: NCA NewsWire / Gaye Gerard Ms West, a former Deputy Secretary of Investment NSW, alleges Mr Barilaro sought the lucrative trade appointment for his own personal advantage; her CEO, Ms Brown, allowed her personal and political interests to motivate her; and that Mr Ayres had acted for political reasons and to help Mr Barilaro.
The lawsuit comes a day after the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption dropped its seven-month investigation into the controversial appointment.
