Despite speculation Joe Biden would not be attending the Quad meeting in Sydney next Wednesday, the US President is “locked in”, says Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed the President’s attendance on Tuesday morning, saying, “I look forward to welcoming President Biden to Australia”.

“The Quad we know started meeting again during the pandemic to attempt to unite these governments – India, Japan, Australia and the US – in the face of the rise of China,” Mr Clennell said. “There are reports this morning the G7 meeting in Japan this weekend, which precedes the Quad, will again condemn economic coercion, in remarks which appear to be aimed once again at China.”
