MECO and DMW collaborated to host a job fair in Quezon City, offering Filipinos work opportunities in Taiwan. Taiwanese employers covered various expenses, including medical examinations and passport fees.

THE Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO), in cooperation with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), held a job fair for Filipinos who wish to work in Taiwan in Quezon City on Friday.MECO is a duly designated instrumentality promoting and protecting Philippine interests in Taiwan.The DMW said Philippine licensed recruitment agencies and Taiwanese companies belonging to the Responsible Business Alliance participated in the event.

'Taiwanese employers will cover the costs for medical examinations, National Bureau of Investigation clearances, Philippine Statistics Authority certifications, and passports for new applicants. In Taiwan, workers will not be charged a monthly service fee, as these expenses are covered by the employers,' the DMW said in a statement on Saturday.The starting wage for workers is NT$28,590 or P50,000, which includes annual increases based on Taiwan's Foreign Service Act, along with a 6 percent tax rate. Workers can qualify for a tax refund after a year in service.The job fair was the third leg of the agency's employment caravan, with the first two legs held in Cabanatuan and Bulacan
