JOHN'S, N.L. — As he prepares to take questions from SaltWire Network, NDP Interim Leader Jim Dinn says, “I’m not comfortable with the interview being all about me, but let’s carry on.”
In his announcement at the Retired Citizens Association in St. John’s, Dinn said he never had political ambitions, and never set out to be the leader of a political party.“It’s been a long decision-making process, but here I am, and if there is one reason to offer myself for the position, it lies in the ability to make a difference in the lives of people.”
It’s largely been his focus as interim leader to help people who are struggling the most, such as when he works to find homes for people who are homeless. He has said on multiple occasions that his main purpose in political life is to help people, especially those who are marginalized.“And we need a party committed to planning for the future of all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. I believe that party is the NDP.
