Treasurer Jim Chalmers says the government’s $14.6 billion cost-of-living package in the federal budget is “carefully calibrated” and “targeted” but “won’t add” to inflationary pressures in the economy.

“People are under the pump right now particularly when it comes to rent, particularly when it comes to

out-of-pocket health costs … and to electricity as well,” Mr Chalmers said during Question Time on Wednesday.
