Treasurer Jim Chalmers has welcomed a short-term boost in the nation’s fertility rate after experiencing a slump at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

The government will this week release the Population Statement, which the Treasurer says will provide an “important snapshot” of how Australia is growing and changing.
