For their own convenience, the preference of those on the Hill seems to be to extend their boundary to take in Wellington Street as part of the Parliamentary Precinct. This is a bad idea. It would take away municipal control of what is one of the most important roads in the city. Today, parliamentarians themselves seem less in contact with the overall city of Ottawa than ever. Spread through buildings along Wellington Street and around Parliament Hill during parliamentary renovations, they are shuttled from their offices to meetings and parliamentary sessions by a fleet of small private buses.
