PETALING JAYA: Men’s singles shuttler Chia Jeng Hon is out to reach his second consecutive final at the National Under-21 championships.
Jeng Hon got his bid off to a smashing start when he beat Selangor’s Ong Lee Tao 21-12, 21-13 in the first round in Ipoh yesterday.The 20-year-old is seeded first in the absence of Justin, who is competing in the China Masters in Ruichang instead. “Overall, it was a good match for me today but I just have to get used to the court conditions as soon as possible,’’ said Jeng Hon.“I don’t want to think about this now though and will just try to perform well in every match.Among those who joined Jeng Hon in the second round are recent German Open Junior runner-up Eogene Ewe and second seed Hooi Shao Herng.
Eogene defeated Kuala Lumpur’s Mohd Sikkander Hafiz 21-15, 21-15 to set up a meeting with Johor’s Azuan Amirul Imran.He will next face Kelantan’s Mohd Nor Hilsan for a place in the third round.
