The affected vehicles are limited to the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, specifically plug-in hybrids built between 2021 and 2023. In those affected SUVs, Jeep is saying a loss of communication amid diagnostic reactions to specific faults could cause the engine to shut down. A sudden loss of power could increase the risk of an accident.
Owners are expected to be notified by mail in early January 2023, while Jeep says anyone who has paid to get the issue resolved may be eligible for a refund. Jeep put a stop-sale in effect for the new Wrangler 4xe, while vehicles affected by this action may also be eligible for some type of reimbursement allowance.
