This influx, which the government aims to nearly double to 60 million annually by 2030, has sparked concerns among some campaigners that it could inadvertently contribute to the growth of the sex industry.Tokyo police, speaking to Agence France-Presse (AFP) on Wednesday, disclosed that the seven suspects, including a Brazilian national, were involved in running prostitution businesses disguised as massage parlors for men in the bustling Kabukicho district. Kazuki Sudo, a 54-year-old Japanese man, is believed to have been the leader of this prostitution ring, which reportedly operated from October to November last year.According to Japan's Mainichi daily newspaper, the group created an English-language website to attract their clientele, which they estimated at 60 to 70 percent foreign nationals, hailing from various Asian countries and North America. The newspaper further reported that the businesses employed foreign touts and accepted payments in multiple currencies.
