TOKYO : Japan plans to invest 15 trillion yen over the next 15 years to supply the country with hydrogen, the government said on Tuesday, as it accelerates efforts to use the gas to shift to a low carbon economy.
Japan, which first published its Basic Hydrogen Strategy in 2017, on Tuesday announced a revised target to boost hydrogen supply to 12 million tonnes a year by 2040. By 2050, Japan aims for around 20 million tonnes when it expects the global hydrogen market to generate $2.5 trillion in annual revenue.
