Aguri Iwasaki, the 2023 Japan Open champion, will compete in the Philippine Open revival, returning to the course where he honed his skills as an amateur.
The revival of the Philippine Open at Manila Southwoods later this month will feature Japan Golf Tour star Aguri Iwasaki . Iwasaki, the 2023 Japan Open champion, is ranked 376th in the world and has confirmed his participation as a direct invite of the host club. He previously represented Southwoods and helped them win two Philippine Airlines Interclub titles. 'He's coming home, sort of,' said Jerome Delariarte, Southwoods' assistant GM.
'He's very excited to come over and play here again, and the Open at that. He's going to be one of the players to watch that week, for sure.' Iwasaki will join other top Asian Tour players vying for Asia's oldest national championship from January 23 to 26. Three more slots will be contested in a qualifying round on Sunday. The $500,000 championship, held at the Carmona complex, will kick off the 2025 Asian Tour season
