The Embassy of Japan in the Philippines is experiencing a surge in visa applications from Filipinos eager to travel to Japan. To address this, the Embassy has pledged to expedite the processing of all visa applications. In a recent Facebook post, the Embassy stated its commitment to completing procedures and returning visas within five working days after submission by travel agencies. This aims to ensure a smooth and timely experience for Filipino travelers.
The Embassy emphasizes that visa applications are only accepted through accredited travel agencies, whether for group tours or individual trips. Filipinos planning to visit Japan are urged to apply at least two months in advance to allow for ample processing time. This advisory follows a previous announcement highlighting potential delays in visa processing due to the high volume of applications. While specific data on Filipinos' travel spending in Japan is unavailable, their overall travel expenditure outside the Philippines reached P208.25 billion in 2023, a 10% increase from 2022. Despite this recovery in outbound travel, spending has yet to surpass pre-pandemic levels of P340.15 billion in 2019.
