PUTRAJAYA: 'Datuk Roy' has been remanded again in connection to an investigation linked to the Jana Wibawa scandal.

This time, the Magistrate's Court here granted a four-day remand beginning on Friday until March 20.

According to his lawyer Fahmi Abd Moin, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission applied for a seven-day remand to assist investigation that involved several other individuals. However, Fahmi objected to the seven-day remand on grounds that there was no reason to detain his client, Mohd Hussein Mohd Nasir, 54, for an extended period of time as he had given his cooperation. On Thursday , Mohd Hussein was released on bail after a three-day remand under Section 17 of the MACC 2009 in connection to the Jana Wibawa scandal, granted by the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court.

They were alleged to have solicited and accepted a bribe of RM400,000 to prevent an investigation into the case. The Jana Wibawa programme was approved for implementation by the Cabinet in November 2020, aimed at easing the economic woes of bumiputra contractors during the Covid-19 pandemic.
