Norma Arsenault speaks to SaltWire Network from her balcony at Huntingdon Court in Charlottetown. The seniors housing complex went without power for 10 days after post-tropical storm Fiona.CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Charlottetown resident Norma Arsenault said getting her power back “would be like Christmas” and the hard-working linesmen would be like Santa Claus.
“It’s been a little tough by times,” said Arsenault, who lives in 34 Hunt Ave., gesturing in the direction of the household generator running near a rear entrance and surveying the scene from her balcony. “If the generator’s on, it means we have hot water.”A household generator runs outside 34 Hunt Ave. on Oct. 3, providing hot water to one of two seniors' apartment buildings in the Huntingdon Court complex.
“I love it here, but the last couple of days, it’s been really cold,” McAvinn said, from inside her screen door. By the time the Oct. 3 media briefing for post-tropical storm Fiona began, seven provincially-owned seniors housing buildings were still without power.
