From next week, Melbourne Airport parking fees are set to jump more than 10 per cent.
Holiday makers hoping to leave their cars at Melbourne Airport are being urged to book in advance in order to avoid incoming price hikes.
From next week, Melbourne Airport parking fees are set to jump more than 10 per cent, with value parking rising from $12 to $14 a day.But Melbourne Airport said travellers can avoid the increases altogether, if they book a spot in advance through the online booking service."I guess the thing for us, 100 per cent of people booking online would be a great outcome," chief of ground transport Jai McDermott said.
Frustrated passengers told 9News they're not happy about the increases, but without sufficient public transport alternatives to get to and from the airport, they have no other option."It is what is, we dont have public transport unfortunately so we have to use it," traveller Peter Trajanovski said. " a little bit outrageous but we don't have an alternative apart from parking on the side roads as you enter," traveller Mark Fisher said.
Parking at the airport is already at a premium, after a new drop off, pick up area and the construction of Naarm Way has meant 2000 car park have been cut.The parking price increase will come into effect from next Monday.
