Paramedics were called to the prison at Stuart this morning, but the 57-year-old was declared deceased. A spokesperson for Queensland Corrective Services said the man was found unresponsive in his cell about 7:00am."Queensland Ambulance Service attended, however the man was unable to be revived."Support is being offered to the responding officers and their colleagues."
The death in custody has triggered an internal investigation, which Queensland Corrective Services said was the "normal process". "A full internal investigation will be conducted and Queensland Corrective Services will assist police in preparing a report for the coroner," the spokesperson said.Find more local news
