Bruna Azevedo says she stressed out and 'not thinking clearly' when a tow truck driver started 'pushing' her to accept their service minutes after a prang in Perth. She tells her story as the government vows further reform in the industry.
Acting Transport Minister John Carey said the towing company's behaviour was "appalling".
Last year, Consumer Protection invited more than 6,000 stakeholders to engage in consultation on reforms in the tow truck industry, which received 37 formal submissions and more than 400 survey responses from industry participants, consumers, insurers, and government agencies. People have the right to complain about a towing company under Australian Consumer Law if the driver's behaviour is "misleading, deceptive or unconscionable".More reforms in 2023
But Mr Carey said the government was working on further reforms and legislative changes for 2023 to address other concerns about behaviour within the industry.
