Inmate hospitalized after assault at Thunder Bay District Jail

Police confirmed Wednesday that a 33-year-old inmate was taken to hospital Monday afternoon with injuries consistent with a stabbing.

Members of the police service's primary response branch responded to a call from the jail just before 2:30 pm.A police spokesperson said the exact nature of the victim's injuries is unknown but they are not believed to be life-threatening.
