Four adult men have died after a car and ute collided in northern Victoria on Wednesday afternoon, near an intersection labelled “dangerous” by a nearby resident.
The driver of the car, a man in his 40s, was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious upper body injuries. He is due to have surgery by Thursday afternoon. Victoria Police Acting Assistant Commissioner Justin Goldsmith told ABC Radio Melbourne that the scene was “incredibly traumatic” for first responders.
He added the rural intersection near where the high-speed crash occurred will “certainly be the major focus of the investigation” given the clear weather and visibility at the time of the incident.A local resident by the name of Ellen, who didn’t want to give her surname but has lived on Pine Lodge North Road for eight years, told“There is a lot of traffic on that road for a back road,” she said.
