As the city showcases its style at the Brisbane Fashion Festival, designers discuss unlocking opportunities and leaning into the wider creative community.
Though she’s made three pieces for the show, Walsh spends less of her time creating original designs these days, preferring to distil her creative energy into collaborations, mentoring and alterations.“I realised recently that after four years of having a shop and not putting anything in there, maybe that’s because I don’t want to,” she says.

She grew up around a sewing machine, making dresses and “stitching stuff” in the studio with her mum, a film costume designer. “There’s a very sentimental aspect to why I do it,” she says.
