King Richard and His Women is a new take on a Shakespeare classic

Tickets: $29 at tickets.tyrantstudios.com

Deorksen plays Richard. He is also a musician and co-artistic producer of presenting company Seven Tyrants Theatre. “Neil had this idea that there was something in Richard III, which was always one of Camyar’s favourite plays, that could be reduced to the story of just Richard and the women,” Deorksen said. “This would not only prove to be an exciting adaptation and distilling of the story, but it would also provide roles for the female actors in school.”

“He spent the last several months going through the play, removing what he says were some of the ideas he thought were good when he was in his thirties, and writing new drafts with other idea. The script he’s come up with is, I think, fantastic.”“To me the most interesting, meaty scenes in the original are where he interacts with the female characters,” Deorksen said.
